Adam Rooney goalAberdeen’s 3-0 win away to Hamilton was marred by mistakes involving Willie Collum. and his two ‘assistants’.

After having his errors highlighted over the festive period Collum was left out of two rounds of fixtures but that absence doesn’t appears to have improved his decision making.

The biggest mistake of the day came during the first half when an Adam Rooney effort crashed off the crossbar and bounced almost a foot over the line.

Despite the bounce producing a puff of sand behind the goal-line Collum and his assistant David McGeachie both failed to spot that the ball had crossed the line.

Embarrassingly McGeachie raced to the referees room on his own at half-time rather than follow protocol and leave the pitch with the other two match officials.

The mistakes never cost Aberdeen any points but there was no hiding Derek McInnes’ anger at the inability of officials to give straightforward decisions.

“I’ve not seen Considine’s header again but I have seen the other two,” the Aberdeen boss said.

“Rooney’s should stand, it’s a good bit over the line. When you see how far it was over the line, we should be getting that right.

“Thankfully the decisions haven’t impacted on the result, otherwise we might be making a bit more of it.

“The one where Goodwillie scored and the guy is off the pitch, he should still see that. I think we deserve better there as well. And I think Rooney should have a penalty. He was hauled to the ground.

“Things didn’t go for us and it could have been a lot more. I think in terms of the way we controlled the game, the scoreline should have been more. But mistakes happen. I made mistakes the last time we were here – I picked the wrong team.”

The result leaves Aberdeen three points behind Celtic having played one match more.
