red cardBungling Willie Collum will referee Saturday’s SPFL clash between Dundee United and St Johnstone.

The UEFA rated whistler continued his run of dismal performances on Sunday with a series of baffling decisions during Aberdeen’s 3-0 win away to Hamilton Accies.

Among the many mistakes Collum failed to notice a header from Adam Rooney that bounced close to a foot over the goal-line before being grabbed by goalkeeper Michael McGovern.

David McGeachie, who was assisting Collum, also failed to spot the goal and will assist Craig Thomson at Saturday’s Falkirk v Livingston match.

“Rooney’s should stand, it’s a good bit over the line,” Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes said. “When you see how far it was over the line, we should be getting that right.

“Thankfully the decisions haven’t impacted on the result, otherwise we might be making a bit more of it.

“The one where Goodwillie scored and the guy is off the pitch, he should still see that. I think we deserve better there as well. And I think Rooney should have a penalty. He was hauled to the ground.

“Things didn’t go for us and it could have been a lot more. I think in terms of the way we controlled the game, the scoreline should have been more. But mistakes happen. I made mistakes the last time we were here – I picked the wrong team.”

Collum was dropped for two rounds of fixtures earlier this year after red cards given against Kenny McLean of St Mirren and Motherwell’s Stephen McManus in consecutive games were overturned.

Celtic’s home match against Hamilton will be refereed by Brian Colvin.
