Dave King After being handed a blazer by Dave King, Paul Murray intends leading Scottish football into a new golden era!

The borders banker, alongside Mr King, nodded through the disastrous policies of Dave Murray that stole titles, trophies and prize money from every club in the land- as well as denying income to Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs.

Those policies led to administration and liquidation which at any other club would result in a five year ban from holding any role at another club.

The SFA haven’t made any comment about Mr Murray, or Mr King who was once described as a glib and shameless liar by a South African judge, leaving the bonkers borders banker to paint his vision for Scottish football.

In an interview with the Sevco website the new chairman claimed: “I think if you look at the history Rangers have always led Scottish football.

“We have always been leaders and unfortunately in the last five years or so we have lost our way. Things have happened that people feel strongly about and I feel strongly about but we can look forward now.

“What we’re going to try and do now is re-engage and try and lead football – if you look at the state of Scottish football at the moment it really needs Rangers to come back and it needs to come back in a more recognisable format.

“I think with the board of directors we are going to put together it is going to be credible people who can not only help with the business and the strategy to move the club forward but also help Scottish football at the same time.”

If Murray takes a closer look at the history he’ll realise that Rangers died in 2012- largely on his watch.

The club that finished second in the SPFL never appeared in the Champions League qualifiers and weren’t spared from the early rounds of the Scottish Cup or the League Cup.

From 1964 to 1988 and the arrival of David Murray, bankrolled by the Bank of Scotland, Rangers (IL) were champions of Scotland THREE times.

Outwith Scotland Murray will find that Dundee United, Dundee and Hibs reached the semi-final’s of the European Cup and held their opponents to single figure aggregate defeats.

Another club from Glasgow won the big cup once, reached a final and appeared in two other semi-final’s without losing 12 goals.

Paying back Mr Ashley and finding the cash for the March payroll should occupy the thoughts of the borders banker before he turns his attention to leading Scottish football where he’ll find that St Mirren, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and St Johnstone have enjoyed recent trophy success while Hearts, Hibs and Dundee United are all in stronger positions on and off the park than in the decade when Murray and chums were putting a team on the park paid by loans with no repayment schedule.
