Anthony StokesAnthony Stokes has turned to twitter to hit out at his red card against Dundee United.

The Irishman was sent off in the 87th minute of the match after clashing with Paul Paton close to referee Calum Murray.

The incident took some of the shine off an impressive Celtic performance- unfortunately the same couldn’t be said for referee Calum Murray.

Tweeting to his 134,000 followers Stokes said: “Great performance tonight! On another note I get a sly elbow in the face by someone that has nothing about them and get sent off, typical!”

Once again Paton was at the centre of most of the trouble with the midfielder a target for the Celtic team and fans after an off the pitch incident involving Lucasz Zaluska.

Ronny Deila was reluctant to discuss the Stokes incident but made his feelings clear on Ryan McGowan’s red card for a foul on Liam Henderson.

The Celtic boss had words with the Australian as he passed the home dug out on his way back to the dressing room.

Speaking afterwards Deila said: “It is stupid to tackle like that on the sidelines. We need to get that out of football. It is a youngster standing there with a little trick.

“You can either stay or go in with both feet, as I see it. You can injure him for life but I have to see it one more time. He must be frustrated, that’s why he did it.

“There were some angry and disappointed players. I spoke a bit to Stokesy, he got a knock in the his mouth and was bleeding in challenge with Paton and he reacted.

“I have to see it again to see if it was a red card but I was delighted with the game.”
