Ronny DeilaRonny Deila admits that he is a fan of the SPFL split- despite the top 12 clubs being in the dark about their opponents next weekend.

Since Hamilton’s defeat at Dundee United on Saturday the make up of the top and bottom half’s of the table has been 99% certain with Kilmarnock’s defeat from Aberdeen on Sunday providing confirmation.

With each club facing five fixtures the first task is to get as close as possible to a 19-19 split between home and away matches.

Celtic will be required to make a third trip to Inverness Caley Thistle, Dundee or St Johnstone with many clubs in a similar situation.

Scheduling the Aberdeen v Celtic fixture will be crucial in deciding the championship with the SPFL still unable to publish the fixtures more than 48 hours after the final whistle was blown at Rugby Park.

Once the fixtures are finally confirmed European places and the relegation issues will be settled with Deila looking forward to the final challenge.

“I think it looks positive,” the Celtic boss said of the split. “I think it’s good to finish the season with a lot of excitement from the bottom up to the top and you get the best games at the end of the season.

“We have worked so hard now for so many months to get to this position and we have to really enjoy it.

“This is a big, big opportunity and we are going into some very important games and I have confidence in my players.

“The atmosphere in the dressing room is very good and we’re looking forward to every game.”
