BrownAt the time it looked a well worked and executed goal but Scott Brown’s strike against Dundee really was out of the ordinary.

For half an hour Celtic had found themselves up against two banks of five as they toiled to break down the visitors who showed little attacking attention.

After the ball had been knocked out of defence Gary Mackay-Steven laid it back to Nir Bitton who in turn passed to Jason Denayer as play switched to the right.

Brown’s goal demonstrated the cutting edge that Ronny Deila has been looking for with the possession and passing that Celtic enjoy rounded off with the finish that makes opponents suffer.

With the league title as little as 90 minutes away Deila could enjoy his side’s performance with last night’s performance fitting for a team on the brink of the claiming the title.

“It was a good performance,” the Celtic boss said. “We got used to the way they were set up and we were patient.

“Some of the goals today were very good. The second goal was through very good passing and movement.

“The third was a penalty but the run was from Darnell Fisher and we need more of that.

“We have shown consistency since Christmas.

“We’ve lost one game in the league since then and had many solid performances and hardly conceded any goals.”

If Aberdeen fail to win at Dundee United today Celtic are champions, if Derek McInnes side wins the title will be on the line at Pittodrie next Sunday.
