New video footage has emerged of Bilel Mohsni’s vicious attack on Lee Erwin.

The clip was taken by a supporter near the tunnel and provides much better detail of the clash with Stuart McCall racing to the incident nine seconds into the video.

Speaking after the match the Ibrox boss claimed: “Hand on heart, I’ve not seen it. I was down the tunnel and then heard the roar so came running back. I spoke to referee Craig Thomson and I believe there were three red cards given after the game – one to ourselves and two to Motherwell.

“If what you are telling me about the incident is true, then it’s obviously unacceptable and totally disgraceful. No-one can condone that sort of behaviour. Bilel’s contract is up but that’s totally unacceptable.

“This afternoon a club statement said: “RANGERS Football Club will co-operate fully with investigations following the disgraceful scenes at the Motherwell game yesterday.

“Bilel Mohsni’s behaviour was completely unacceptable and had his contract not now expired, the Club would have started disciplinary proceedings.

“The Club will also assist with any investigation into the behaviour of Motherwell supporters and we would like to thank the Rangers fans who were excellent in showing admirable restraint despite severe provocation.”

The SFA have yet to comment on the incident but it’s likely that Mohsni, Erwin and Fraser Kerr, who all received retrospective red cards from Craig Thomson after the match, will be required to appear at Hampden.

Last night Bernard Higgins said: “Police Scotland will conduct a full review of the circumstances and liaise with the appropriate partners, and decide how best to take the matter forward over the coming days.”
