spflCeltic will visit Fir Park next season after Motherwell crushed Sevco 6-1 in the Premiership play-off.

There was a glaring gap in quality between the two sides as the Fir Parker’s trounced the men from Ibrox 3-0 with Bilel Mohsni sparking a free for all at the end of the match by lashing out at Motherwell’s Lee Erwin.

Leading 3-1 from the first leg the outcome of the match was never in any doubt although Motherwell did look nervy for the first 30 minutes before they started to test out the Sevco defence marshalled by Lee McCulloch.

Seven minutes into the second half the pressure got too much for the Championship side with marvellous Marvin Johnson opening up their defence before his shot spun off Marius Zaliukas flew high into the air before being punched into his own net by former Scotland keeper Cameron Bell.

From that moment on the outcome of the tie was settled. Former Kidderminster ace Johnson set up Lionel Ainsworth for the second goal in the 70th minute with his shot also deflecting off Zaliukas into the net past Bell.

In stoppage time John Sutton, who has been given a free transfer, completed the scoring from the penalty spot to retain the home side’s top flight status on a comfortable 6-1 aggregate.

After the final whistle Motherwell boss Ian Baraclough said: “Everyone connected with us made sure these two games where the biggest of our lives.

“We executed our plan perfectly, took our chances and made sure we are in the top division.

“Hopefully the stuff at the end won’t overshadow the win because it was 10 seconds of madness that has no place in this sport whatsoever.

“The two teams went at it hammer and tongs, there were chances in both ends in both games.

“It was a pulsating game to watch for any neutral but if the back pages are full of two or three people brawling then that’s the wrong message to send out for Scottish football.”

Police Scotland and the SFA are expected to launch enquiries into the shameful scenes at the end of the match that marred Mohsni’s last appearance in Scottish football.
