Decision day for BBC Scotland over Ibrox ban

SportsceneToday is a very big day for BBC Scotland- will they send reporter Chris McLaughlin’s to the Indodrill Stadium to cover the match between Alloa Athletic and Sevco?

Two weeks ago McLaughlin was refused entry to an Ibrox press conference, press privileges were withdrawn, in real terms he was banned.

To most Scottish football fans it’s laughable that there should be a fall out between the two organisations who rely heavily on each other with back-scratching the order of the day. Former BBC Scotland presenter Jim Traynor even oils the wheels of the Ibrox media machine.

Miffed that their man was no longer welcome at Ibrox the BBC decided that if McLaughlin wasn’t allowed inside they wouldn’t be sending any of their reporters to Ibrox.

Incredibly, three days after McLaughlin was refused admission BBC Scotland invited Craig Houston from the Sons of Struth into a studio to give airtime to the bizarre issues that supporters have with some BBC employees.

Tom English was the subject of Housty anger as Kenny McIntyre and Richard Wilson played an impassive role hoping that everything would pan out.

As Housty raged against BBC Scotland he said that the broadcaster had overplayed that big tax case which and that the club, oops company, had actually won against HMRC. Perhaps he hasn’t heard yet about Tore Andre Flo, Ronald de Boer and five players in the big tax case that the club, er company, admitted guilty charges on.

Another source of anger was arrests at Easter Road during the Petrofac Training Cup tie with Hibs. Houston’s fellow son of Struth, Sandy Chugg, should be able to assist with that detail, he’s due in court on a breach of the peace charge following the League Cup semi-final earlier this year.

After taking their ‘bold’ stance against the McLaughlin ban the BBC didn’t take up their gantry position for the opening league fixture with St Mirren. In protest Rob McLean and two pundits provided commentary from the studio watching television pictures.

This afternoon Radio Scotland appear to be giving over airtime to the match at Alloa, if McLaughlin isn’t on duty it looks like he’s getting the Jim Spence treatment as the state broadcaster tries to build bridges while handing over their ‘principles’ and an employee to the howling mob.

Giving Houston air time says it all, about the BBC. The whole press never ask about sevco’s finances, it’s not allowed.
Simply ask, do you have enough finance to last 12 months, without emergency loans.
Nope can’t do that, we didn’t agree to questions like that.
    STINKS !
