WattTony Watt opened his Cardiff scoring account with a classic strike at Bolton on Saturday.

It took the on-loan Charlton striker just 13 minutes to make his mark, picking up the ball wide on the left, heading into the penalty box, switching onto his right foot then slamming a low shot off the near post into the net

After watching his side win 3-2 Cardiff boss Russell Slade said: “We got ourselves in a great situation and scored a great first goal, 15 passes and well finished by Tony, but to be fair to Bolton they never laid down and kept fighting back.”

With Sheffield Wednesday failing to beat Derby Cardiff held onto sixth spot over the weekend with Slade determined to build on their first away win since August.

A number of Championship[p clubs are keen to sign Watt from Charlton on a permanent basis next month with the Cardiff boss looking to build on Saturday’s win over the busy festive period.

We need to back this up, we need to try to get back to back wins and that might give us the momentum moving forward,” he said on Saturday.

We’ll watch Sheffield Wednesday against Derby with great interest and then we will look forward to meeting them on Saturday. We are going to need to be strong again. We’ve not hit top gear enough this season and there is room for improvement for sure.

This is a big period for us going towards Christmas, if we can pick up some points now after a difficult period, it will give us the chance to hold onto one of those play-off spots.”
