Erik SviatchenkoNew bhoy Eric Sviatchenko took to social media to express his delight at signing for Celtic.

The 24-year-old defender cut an impressive figure at his media unveiling and discussed his desire to connect with supporters and get a feeling for the club.

With twitter and instagram accounts he won’t take long to get an understanding for life with Scotland’s most successful club even though his first team debut might be almost a month away after the Danish winter break.

Pictured on instagram alongside Ronny Deila he said: “Officially a @celticfc player – couldn’t be more proud, thank you for everything @fcmidtjylland! 10 years in the club and I have had so many good experiences! I wish all the best and will follow you every week.

On twitter he had a similar message saying: “Officially a @celticfc player – couldn’t be more proud thank you everything @fcmidtjylland! 10…”

Discussing his move Sviatchenko said: “It has been a long, tough way for me to try to get a contract in a foreign country and when Celtic came, I could feel that this was a very good decision for me.

It was very clear that Celtic is a winning club and has been winning trophies. They have won the championship for the last four years and I won it in Denmark and I want to be remembered.

I want to play for winning, not just to play games. I had the feeling of going into every game to win something so I think that’s a good match with Celtic. There were teams from the Italian league, the French league and the Championship, but nothing could compare to a huge club like Celtic so I’m very satisfied.

I see it as very good. I played in Denmark and now I’m playing in Scotland so I’m happy to have signed for a long time. For me it’s about developing into a regular starter.”
