SportsceneSevco are back at war with BBC Scotland after banning Chris McLaughlin for the second time this season.

The move happened two weeks ago when McLaughlin was refused access for a media conference with the state broadcaster deciding not to attend media matters while McLaughlin is banned.

At the start of the season there was a similar stand off before a peace deal was brokered with the BBC providing free advertising with live broadcasting of the Petrofac Training Cup tie against Livingston and the League Cup pumping by St Johnstone.

In a statement tonight BBC Scotland announced: “We are disappointed that Rangers took the decision to ban our reporter Chris McLaughlin from Ibrox. We believe it is unjustifiable and we stand by the integrity and the quality of our journalism.

“We will continue to report on Rangers both on and off the pitch and will feature match action where appropriate but, until this issue is resolved, we will not be sending journalists to Ibrox or attending Rangers’ press conferences.”

It’s believed that the Championship leaders were upset when the BBC finally decided to report on the singing of The Billy Boys during the festive fixture against Hibs.

While other media outlets took up the story 24 hours after the match the BBC avoided touching it until three days later when they reported a statement on the Sevco website designed to defuse the singing.

While trying to find a solution to the matter BBC Scotland didn’t provide their usual Ibrox coverage from Saturday’s match against Livingston with the next home match scheduled for January 30 against Falkirk.

Bbc sucked up to Sevco by televising meaningless games to help keep Sevco solvent and get kicked in the bollocks when the bigoted Billy Boys gets mentioned which was blatantly obvious.
Singing about a razor gang thug who ended up an alcoholic loner who died lying in his pish soaked bed.
    Good enough for the scumbag.
Just shows you how thick they are they think they are singing about King Billy not the drunken gangster from Brigton, gullible gullible peepul

    Hail Hail

Funny I read the headlines in The Herald and it reads that the BBC had boycotted Ibrox .
I guess they will not be banned from Ibrox.

The BBC should man-up and refuse to televise any coverage of RIFC games other than their 5 min contractual agreement with the SPFL. Although why second third and fourth tier games where ever included is beyond logical thinking.
