Neil LennonNeil Lennon couldn’t believe his eyes as he watched Beram Kayal score the winner for Brighton against Bolton.

After moving off bottom place last week a point away to promotion chasers Brighton would have been a decent result but once again Bolton went down to a single goal defeat.

Kayal wasn’t the only familiar face on the scoresheet with former Motherwell man Jamie Murphy opening the scoring and former Rangers (IL) target Tomer Hamed also on target.

“The third goal from our point of view was ridiculous,” Lennon said about a rare strike from Kayal. “The manner in which we conceded the winner was really disappointing but against a good side like Brighton I can take a lot of good things from the performance.

“There is still a long way to go. We`ve been in decent form and we have got to put this one away.”

Looking forward Lennon added: “We`ve got some catching up to do but there`s 15 games to go; plenty of time.

“We must get winning and capitalise on good performances. We need to start grinding out results.

“I don`t think many would`ve given us a chance today. We`re under a transfer embargo whereas Brighton made several January signings. There wasn`t much in the game and it gives me encouragement going forward.”

That result and Charlton’s draw with Cardiff returned Bolton to bottom place, seven short of safety while the win lifted Brighton into fourth place, one ahead of Sheffield Wednesday who beat Brentford 4-0 with Gary Hooper among the scorers.
