Deila’s fighting talk

DeilaUnlike his players, Ronny Deila was in fighting mood after Celtic’s 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen.

The result leaves Celtic three points ahead of Derek McInnes’ side but casts major doubts over Celtic’s title push.

Back-to-back defeats to Ross County and Aberdeen have turned a significant section of the Celtic support against Deila with little evidence that the side is progressing.

While Celtic remain favourites to lift the title- with Aberdeen to visit Celtic Park after the split- it seems that momentum is on the Don’s side as self doubt spreads through Deila’s squad.

After falling behind to Ross County and Aberdeen there seemed little prospect of a fight-back with Scott Brown in the Aberdeen goal barely tested until Leigh Griffiths netted in stoppage time.

While defeats are inevitable the nature of the back-to-back losses has set off alarm bells among Celtic fans but Deila retains the belief that everything is under control.

If you lose your head you lose everything, it is very important to be calm,” he explained.  “Everyone loses football matches but still we are in charge and I know the players and I know what I want and we will fight to the end to get the title back to Celtic Park and I really believe we can do it.

“We have a lot of quality in the team, we are going to be stronger. I am confident I can do this. All managers have problems at the start of their careers at different clubs. Look at Alex Ferguson and others.

“You get through periods and you get stronger. We are going to get through this together, we are going to win this league, fight for the Scottish Cup and get stronger.”
