Warburton MarkWhinging Mark Warburton has continued his rant against artificial pitches ahead of his side’s visit to the plastic surface of Palmerston Park.

It hasn’t taken long for the former city trader to pick up on the characteristics of his predecessors at Sevco and Rangers (IL) as he scatters blame in every direction except in-house.

The latest moans would suggest that Martyn Waghorn won’t play again this season but despite the ‘severity’ of the injury the former England u-21 goal machine was treated by the Sevco physio before taking his 12th penalty of the season at Kilmarnock.

Rather than constantly blame the pitch perhaps Warbo should look at the assessment of his physio who allowed Waggers to continue with an injury that is likely to see him missing out on penalty duty for at least two months.

If Warbo wants to know about the damage caused by a poor assessment from a physio he only needs to speak with reserve coach Ian Durrant. After a heavy tackle from Neil Simpson in a game at Aberdeen Durrant was PIGGYBACKED off the pitch by magic sponge man Phil Boersma with untold damage inflicted on his damaged knee as it flopped about in various directions.

Providing the latest update on Waggers, Warbo claimed: “We’re adamant as a club, from our medical department and from ourselves as coaches reviewing the injury that the nature of Martyn’s injury would not be the same if he’d been playing on grass.

Our player came off that pitch with lacerations and immediate bruising. Immediately we compared it to how it would look if you’d fallen over in the playground, that’s how bad it looked.

He had blood, bruising and the scan shows any problems inside the knee. There is no blame attached, we are just making the point – the nature of the surface changed the type of injury our player suffered. That’s our opinion and you won’t change it.”

While he slips in the comment that there is no blame attached it hasn’t prevented Warbo from moaning for three days about the pitch rather than looking in house to find out why Waggers was allowed to continue playing with an injury that could end his season.
