Loch Lomond FestivalCeltic will visit Ibrox on April 28 to contest the final of the Glasgow Cup against Sevco.

The u-17 competition consisted of home and away matches between the two finalists, Queens Park and Partick Thistle.

Celtic topped the group on goal difference from the Ibrox side but the table barely tells the story of a dramatic section in which Partick Thistle failed to pick up a single point while conceding 37 goals in six matches.

With five minutes left to play in the final group match it looked like Queens Park were heading for the final as they led Celtic 2-1 at Lennoxtown after turning around Broque Watson’s opener.

Substitute Max Potter headed home a free-kick in the 87th minute as the game exploded with goals, red cards and controversy.

After celebrating Potter’s goal Celtic were brought back to earth with a thump when the Spiders equalised straight from the restart.

Unbelievably Celtic were then awarded two penalties in the closing minutes with the visitors finishing the match with nine men after protesting to referee Chris Gentles with spiders chief Jimmy Sinclair leaving the field an exceptionally angry coach.

With three teams taking full points from Thistle the competition broke down to a three way contest with Celtic losing 1-0 at Lennoxtown and drawing 0-0 at Murray Park with the Ibrox side.

Queens Park and Sevco had a win apiece against each other with Celtic’s double over the Spiders, a 3-0 win at Lesser Hampden and 4-3 win at Lennoxtown booking their final place.

After the widespread damage and vandalism at the 2014 final at Celtic Park this year’s final will be an all ticket affair with tickets restricted to players families and local youth groups.

Celtic are the current holders of the trophy after winning last season’s final at Hampden with Josh Kerr and Mark Hill scoring to beat Sevco 2-0.
