Lawwell BankierHaving gambled, and lost, so much on Ronny Deila the Celtic board are going to take one further throw of the dice by letting the Norwegian remain in charge till the end of the season.

The statement released this morning ticked all the right boxes but when the dust settles Celtic go into the title run in with a manager who is on his way out regardless of how the season concludes.

Sunday’s game against Ross County could change the dynamics of the position entirely.

Martin O’Neill and Gordon Strachan both left on the back of last day title losses with their departures falling into the open secret category.

With Deila’s departure the club have confirmed the rumour that everyone has been in on, the gamble is that by removing the speculation one area will be cleared enabling the team to go on and win the Premiership title.

No-one on the outside really knows the state of the relationship between players and management but going by performances over the last six months it’s far from healthy.

Will Deila’s departure see issues set aside as everyone concentrates on getting the points needed to ensure the title is delivered?

Aberdeen could of course make things easier by failing to win at St Johnstone on Friday night, a win however would see Celtic kick-off against Ross County with a five point lead with the following fixtures seeing the hoops face Aberdeen and Hearts.

On the back of the trauma from Hampden so much will rest on the 90 minutes against Ross County on Sunday.

Having accepted Deila’s resignation the decision to allow him to continue in charge will be vindicated, or otherwise by tea-time on Sunday.

Hopefully the final gamble on the former Stromsgodset manager will be more successful than those taken over the last two seasons.
