Owen Coyle is hoping that Anthony Stokes and Danny Graham can win around sceptical Blackburn supporters.
Like the manager both players are new to the club but don’t have the baggage of being associated with local rivals Burnley or Bolton.
Coyle’s Burnley stint will make winning some fans over Mission Impossible with his recent spell at Houston Dynamo far from impressive.
After becoming an established Premier League side Ewood Park is about to host it’s fifth successive season of Championship football with little expectation of a return to the top flight.
Stokes and Graham will be expected to deliver the goals for a promotion push with Coyle pinning his hopes on the duo hitting the net in style.
“We’re very fortunate to have a career in football and if we weren’t I’d be paying a fiver for us to go and play five-a-side, because we love the game,” he told the Lancashire Telegraph.
“So when you get the chance to be involved in this wonderful game, it’s important you do everything in your power to try and get the right players who can help to build this club.
“I know there’s been previous years where there’s been disappointment for various reasons, but we can’t affect that.
“The only we can affect is what’s to come, what’s in front of us, and the way to do that is to try and build this group, get good players in who can help us all moving forward as a club – the staff, the players, the fans.
“The fans are so important to the club and that’s why, for me, it’s so important to get players to the club that they can get excited about watching.
“The Anthony Stokes’ and the Danny Graham’s of this world help you to do that.”
Paul Lambert stepped down as Blackburn boss at the end of last season with his assistant, Alan Irvine, taking up a coaching role at Norwich City over the weekend.
