Celtic fans partied the day away in Dublin watching their side go head to head with Barcelona.

There was a carnival atmosphere in the Irish capital as Celtic fans poured into the city, mingling with locals keen to see Barcelona playing in Ireland for the first time.

Despite losing 3-1 the Celtic support was in good form as they indulged in a huddle while singing in anticipation of 10-in-a-row.

Just over 47,000 fans were in the Aviva Stadium creating a great atmosphere although things went a little flat in the second half as the procession of substitutes meant that it was virtually a reserve match between the two clubs.

Celtic could have taken the lead within 15 seconds of the kick-off but Patrick Roberts swerving shot slipped around the outside of the post.

Despite some promising moves from Celtic it was Barcelona that took the lead in the 11th minute when Arda Turan curled a 20 yard shot around Craig Gordon into the net.

Celtic continued to push forward and were rewarded with a goal just before the half hour mark when Leigh Griffiths took advantage of some horrendous defending to ram the ball into the net from close range.

Unfortunately the scores were level for less than two minutes with Efe Ambrose sliding the ball past Gordon to the dismay of some Celtic fans who booed the defender although other fans tried cheering the Nigerian internationalist.

That goal seemed to deflate the fans in the stadium with Barca adding to their led five minutes from the interval when Munir scored from close range after the Celtic defence was opened up.
