Scott Allan believes that Brendan Rodgers’ mind games can convert him into a first team player.
The former Hibs midfielder endured a frustrating season under Ronny Deila who admitted that the 25-year-old wasn’t really his type of player.
Rodgers has gone public with his admiration for Allan and followed that up on the training ground and in conversations with the midfielder.
“He’s spoken to me a few times individually,” Allan confirmed. “He gave me a lot of encouragement but what he said will stay between myself and the manager.
“He put things in my head that I need to work on. I got the impression he has done his research on me – I’m sure he’ll have done that with every player here. What I got from him was really positive. I can’t wait to work with him.
“He’s thorough. That comes from being at the big clubs he has been at and the level he has worked at. At that standard you need to be that way. That will be a massive thing for us this year.
Allan added: “The manager gets his message across really quickly. That’s good for us as players because we know what he wants.
“He makes it clear what he wants from each and every training session. It has been really enjoyable so far.
“Obviously I hope I can be his type of player. I’ve heard about what he wants from players and watched his teams play. But I have to put the work in, catch his eye early doors and hopefully take my chance.
