Martyn Waghorn and James Tavernier are the latest Sevco heroes to snub new contract offers as the Barton factor tears through Ibrox.

In an unexpected move both the Daily Record and Scottish Sun have reported that the former Wigan duo have rejected the offer to extend their contracts.

Waggers and Tavvers joined the Warbo revolution last summer on realistic wage deals but the arrival of Barton on a reported £25,000-a-week plus signing on fee has unsettled the dressing room.

With Mark Warburton stalling on a new contract it seems that the PR stunt to sign Barton has backfired creating unrest as a new wages level comes into play.

Warbo is keen to maintain a similar wage structure throughout the side but that has been blown out the water by the Barton deal and reports that injury prone England u-19 international Jordan Rossiter has picked up a £10,000-a-week four year deal.

Speaking in October to the Evening Times the former city trader admitted: “You can’t have a break in the harmony by bringing someone in on a much higher wage.

It didn’t happen at my last club and it won’t happen here. Everyone sits in the same dressing room and I’m not a fan of players being on difference appearance fees or whatever.

We are playing the same game and everyone has to be on the same level.

You can get a very good player, but you have to make sure you keep the dressing room happy. A lack of harmony is the last thing you want. It does far more harm than good.”
