Celtic’s u-20 side are in action today away to Clyde, kick off 3pm at Broadwood.

Tommy McIntyre’s side beat Partick Thistle 2-0 on Wednesday in a closed doors friendly with goals from Broque Watson and Theo Archibald.

With Clyde starting their competitive action next week in the BetFred Cup at home to Kilmarnock this afternoon’s match should provide McIntyre’s side with a tough test as they gear up for the new season.

On Wednesday a Celtic XI will travel to play Dalbeattie Star for a friendly before going to Ireland to take on Real Sociedad and Everton/ Espanyol in the Super Cup NI being staged at Ballymena and Coleraine on July 21 and 23.

The squad at Clyde today will largely be made up of last season’s Development League side who completed the campaign unbeaten to win the title in a canter.

It’s expected that a number of last season’s squad will go out on loan with Paul McMullan moving to Dunfermline in midweek as part of the deal that took PJ Crossan to Celtic.

The first competitive fixture of the season will be on August 2 when the young hoops host Annan Athletic in the Irn Bru Cup with Celtic competing in that competition for the first time.

In the Development League McIntyre’s side will have to wait until August 23 for their first match- away to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park- followed up by a home match against St Johnstone the following week.

Entry to today’s match is £5 for all supporters, you can follow the action today on TWITTER.
