Scott Sinclair- What’s next?

With just Moussa Dembele signed up so far speculation continues over Brendan Rodgers transfer plans.

Adding an experienced central defender would seem to be a priority but after a fortnight in Slovenia Rodgers will take his squad to Gibraltar to face Lincoln Red Imps without any defensive additions.

Kristoffer Ajer or Eoghan O’Connell may be in for a chance but it’s likely that there will be reinforcements should Celtic reach the play-off stage of the Champions League.

One name that doesn’t seem to go away is Scott Sinclair of Aston Villa. The 27-year-old has played for 11 clubs in a career that seems to be going nowhere in particular with just one spell- working with Rodgers at Swansea- standing out.

A £6m move to Manchester City proved to be a complete disaster with loan spells at West Brom and Aston Villa proving to be spectacularly unspectacular.

After half a dozen years on the Premier League Sinclair has to decide whether he wants to continue a nomadic career or re-unite with Rodgers and rediscover the form that he showed during two seasons with Swansea.

Celtic’s wage structure won’t be overturned for any individual but if Sinclair wants to get his career kick started, if he fancies European football, preferably Champions League and playing in front of a passionate support he knows where to look.

Interest from other English clubs appears thin on the ground increasing the lure of Celtic. With a squad that reaches into the thirties Rodgers doesn’t need to bulk up on numbers, starters are required with the door open for Sinclair to get his career back on track.
