Chris Sutton is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore with the former Celtic striker writing a column for the Daily Record, appearing as a pundit for BT Sport and the BBC while producing a very lively twitter account.

With his forthright views and support for Celtic he is a welcome breath of fresh air with twitter providing the perfect outlet for his straight talking and typing.

At times it seems that the robust nature of social media is providing some sort of replacement to the on pitch jousts that he revelled in as a player at Norwich, Blackburn and Celtic.

For the second week running Craig Thomson provided most of the talking points as he took charge of the lunchtime telly match between St Johnstone and Celtic.

Leigh Griffiths picked up a booking for simulation while a yellow card for James Forrest celebrating his goal brought further attention on Thomson who was accused of bottling out of punishing Harry Forrester at Dundee last week.

Summarising his views on Thomson Sutton tweeted: “Contact (Griffiths booking) but not enough would have been soft and hard to criticise Thomson for this However we ask for consistency.

Adding cheekily: “Good question I went down if there was enough… Not Jamie Walker enough mind.”

Sutton concluded: “Refereeing isn’t easy but if you get it wrong hold hands up. It’s a human thing and people respect that.”
