Defender pleased by Brendan’s window dealing

|

Erik Sviachenko believes that Celtic were transfer window winners.

Brendan Rodgers brought in five new faces with three of them- Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele- heavily involved in qualification for the group phase of the Champions League.

The other two signings- Dorus de Vries and Cristian Gaboa- could be viewed as direct replacements for the architects of Hapoel’s second goal which put Celtic’s Champions League place in jeopardy.

Sviachenko felt the tension of the last 25 minutes in Israel and believes that Rodgers’ signings have added quality and competition to the squad that the Irishman inherited in May from Ronny Deila.

It’s always good when you find yourself here after a window,” the Danish defender joked.

Yes, the squad is much stronger now. We signed five players: Kolo Toure, Scott Sinclair, Dorus de Vries, Moussa Dembele and Cristian Gamboa.

So I would say those kind of signings are massive. Being in a squad where we have these quality players, well, I am really happy with that.

You can attract those kind of players also because of the connection with the gaffer and that is a positive thing. The Champions League is also an attraction, as is the playing style we are now showing.

We have been scoring a lot of goals, we have been attacking and we have been exciting so far.

That is the football you want to be playing. As a defender, being on the front foot and trying to intercept the ball is the way you want to be playing.

In general that attracts players and if you asked those five players we have brought in, then they would say the same thing.”
