For those lucky enough to be there it was a magical afternoon, for the millions watching worldwide it was no less memorable.

Over the last four years Celtic fans have had their intelligence assaulted and their teams success challenged because tax cheats from Ibrox had ran out of lifes.

The thought that the tribute act could pick things up where the old club died was bizarre, under Murray and White Rangers (IL) were spending way outside their means with Warburton’s all sorts forced to live within their means.

In contrast Celtic have taken giant strides since the freak defeat in last season’s Scottish Cup semi-final with the key change in the dug out.

He may be closer to 5ft 6in than the 6ft 3in Ronny Deila but the Irishman brings a substance and experience to the Celtic job.

The pressure was on after being welcomed by 13,000 fans on his first full day but Rodgers has embraced that pressure and got his own career back on track as well as reviving Celtic.

His reputation was tarnished by the follow up to Liverpool’s near miss, with Celtic in his soul it appears that both parties have found the ideal match with the fans buying wholly into the Brendan bus, whatever he suggests the answer is ‘in Brendan we trust’.

It wasn’t as spectacular as some had hoped for but in their choreographed green, white and orange shirts The Green Brigade made their presence well felt in their new style standing area.

Throughout the match they set the tempo with their chants and anthems with the rest of the Celtic support joining in enthusiastically.

There was no killer banner or slogan but there was plenty of memories for the fans to enjoy as the ground rocked through another famous day.

DEMBELE’S GLORIOUS SECOND

What a strike- the hallmark of a player full of confidence.

When he got the ball it looked a promising position but no one could have predicted the route the ball took into the net.

Drawing the goalkeeper was impressive but the way that he directed his shot with the outside of his foot across Rob Kiernan and into the net.

Without doubt this boy has all the ability in the world, at 20 years of age he has everything in his locker with no Celtic fan talking about Leigh Griffiths as they left the ground.

THREE IS A MAGIC NUMBER

He waited 41 minutes to complete his hat-trick but after netting his second goal it seemed inevitable that the Frenchman would complete his treble.

Having turned provider for Scott Sinclair’s strike it was great to see Dembele celebrate his third.

With a desperate, despairing lunge coming in from Joseph Barton Dembele struck his shot back across goal before collecting a yellow card for celebrating- the third Celt in four matches to be punished for this crime!

SKIPPER AND THE GAFFER

It may have seemed an unlikely alliance in the summer but there’s no doubt that Brendan Rodgers and Scott Brown have formed a meaningful bond.

On the park Brown seems capable of carrying his managers orders out to the letter, today he barely had to look out for the mouthy Joseph Barton such was Celtic’s dominance.

Rodgers soaked up the atmosphere as his side entered the arena, his selection and tactics created a special day that will be long remembered.

LET’S ALL DO THE HUDDLE

It was inevitable and enjoyable. The Green (White and Orange) Brigade were in fine form throughout the day and knew the moment that the whole stadium was waiting for.

Spreading quickly from section 111 it was embraced throughout the stadium with Rod Stewart leading the huddle from the directors box.

Nothing of any real note happened on the pitch during the huddle, the 90 minutes either side of it will be remembered long and loud as the tribute act were shown just how far they have to go to live with the champions.
