Furious Mark Warburton has hit out at the poisonous coverage of Sevco’s 5-1 defeat at Celtic on Saturday.
The former city trader, who used to work 16 hour shifts often dealing in billions, was caught like a rabbit in headlights as Brendan Rodgers side took apart last season’s Scottish Cup runners-up.
After the defeat Warbo claimed that there was no gulf between the two teams while today’s ramble involved a claim that that ‘it was never a 5-1’ result. The SPFL record books tells us that it was.
After 18 months in charge of Brentford last season’s Championship success seems to have gone to the Londoner’s head with any mild criticism bringing about an angry response.
After two weeks, or four years, of build up many in the media expected Warbo’s side to put up a decent fight but after losing five goals, having a debutant and assistant manager sent off the Ibrox gaffer lashed out at his friends in the media.
“I’ve read some of the comments,” the former city trader told his club website. “I told the players that I was warned not to read the papers, but I thought no, I will read the papers, and you see some of the poisonous, mischievous dialogue that is written, and that just burns in your memory and that is something we will use.
“We need to turn it round and we will turn it around quickly, and while I won’t use the exact words I used with the players, we will make sure the people who are writing what they are writing right now come to eat those words.”
Warbo will be without the suspended Philippe Senderos for Saturday’s clash with Ross County but does have the luxury of being able to bring in Clint Hill.
