Luis Suarez is wary of tomorrow’s nights Champions League opponents.
The Barcelona icon almost delivered the Premier League title for Rodgers in 2014 and has kept in close touch with the new Celtic manager.
In July the two men met up in Dublin for a pre-season friendly but it’ll be serious business tomorrow night when the curtain goes up for matchday one in the Champions League.
“We have been studying Celtic in preparation and Brendan has them scoring a lot of goals and playing exciting football,” Suarez told The Sun. “That’s Brendan’s way. He will not only make Celtic a better team but he will make their individuals better players.
“We know that Celtic have some of the best fans in Europe and they will arrive here and make some noise.
“They’ll be optimistic they can get a good result, but we must just focus on what happens on the field.
“It is important that we start the group with a win, but against a Brendan Rodgers team that will not be easy.
“There have been many people in my career who have been a big influence on me, and there is no doubt Brendan’s one of them. He did make me a better player.”
