Brendan Rodgers had no problem accepting ‘The Celtic Way’, the Irishman embraces it.

Since he was announced as Ronny Deila’s successor there has been an unmissable bond between manager, club and supporters.

Rodgers way with words, the way that he presents himself and the charisma that surrounds him have worked a treat with the Celtic support who have energised and inspired a new group of players.

The 3-3 draw with Manchester City provides the perfect case study of those dynamics.

Since the final whistle blew against City the clock has been ticking towards kick-off time tomorrow night against Borussia Monchengladbach.

The performances against Dundee and Motherwell were hardly inspirational but with full points collected there are no domestic distractions as the big time returns.

Rodgers was diplomatic about those domestic matches but after a couple of European nights it’s obvious that he is at home with the special atmosphere those games generate.

For 50 years now Europe has been the benchmark to judge Celtic teams, that arena brings out the best in the club with Rodgers relishing the responsibility that he carries.

There is an obligation here as Celtic manager,” the Irishman said. “I feel a responsibility to put out a team that plays with power, speed, creativity and unpredictability and that is what we are heading towards.

“We have players at the moment who are doing fantastic in this early part of the season but we are looking to develop that while having that improvisation and invention that I like in the team. But certainly up until now the players couldn’t have done any more.”
