Tom Rogic has Brendan Rodgers to thank for enjoying the best form of his career.
The Australian is well into his fourth year at Celtic and has become a key element in the reborn side created by the new hoops boss.
Under Neil Lennon Rogic never enjoyed a decent run while his bid to be fit for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil ended in failure and resulted in the following term being a virtual write off.
With a new deal behind him and regular action in the Champions League and World Cup qualifiers it’s easy to understand how the midfielder is feeling.
“I’m settled, not just football-wise, but off the pitch,” he said ahead of Friday’s clash with Saudi Arabia in Jeddah. “I enjoy being there – it’s a massive club.
“Nights like the other night in the Champions League are why you want to be a footballer and the atmosphere we have at home is pretty hard to describe.
“Personally, I’m feeling that working under (Rodgers), I can only get better.
“I feel fortunate to be in the position that I am – I’m not taking anything for granted, I just want to keep playing and hopefully improving and there’s not much more to it.”
Speculating about his future he added: “Football’s funny sometimes. I don’t know where it will take me. I probably didn’t pick years ago I’d be where I am now so it’s hard to say where I’ll end up. At the moment, I’m just happy and enjoying it.”
