Chris Sutton has offered to interview Mark Warburton on a one-to-one basis!

The rift between the Sevco boss and BT Sport escalated on Friday when the Sevco boss refused to be interviewed by the broadcaster.

BT Sport pay in more than £10/season to promote the national sport with post match interviews with managers a key part of their coverage.

Sutton has been critical of Warbo’s tactics this season and questioned whether he was another Ronny Deila on the morning of Celtic’s 5-1 win over their city rivals.

Warbo, who used to work as a city trader, has made a number of attacks on the Scottish media and even claimed that one newspaper carried 20 pages covering Sevco’s 2-1 defeat at Aberdeen.

Twelve months ago Sutton was even more outspoken about the direction Celtic were going in under Ronny Deila which led to an interview with the Celtic boss at Lennoxtown.

A similar exercise with Warbo would certainly pull in a huge audience with Sutton happy to go face to face with the magic hat.

BT Sport will be in talks with the SPFL this week about Warbo’s breach of contract with Sutton in no mood to water down his views.

Many of the former Celtic striker’s most outspoken comments have come in the Daily Record but there seems no appetite within Ibrox to curtail contact with the Glasgow based newspaper.

In today’s edition of the Record Sutton stated: “What sort of broadcasting are we going to have in Scotland if you can only say what people at football clubs want to hear?

That goes against free speech. Without that and a democracy, it goes against the principles of what the country is about.

You might as well not go on air. Or just show the game and not have an opinion.”
