The Borussia Park lived up to it’s billing as one of the most atmospheric stadiums in the game as Celtic and Monchengladbach shared the points after the fans had shared pictures, videos and drinkies throughout the day.
A warm welcome was laid on for the travelling bhoys and ghirls who enjoyed an old school football trip that is sadly no longer available, even on a reduced scale, in Scotland.
Celtic produced a fanzone in George Square for the home match with Gladbach but with over 20 years of experience the Germans know exactly how to put on a show.
The whole footballing culture in Germany is so different with supporters seen as central to the whole issue rather than viewed on as awkward customers to be treated at arms length.
Gladbach went the extra mile to welcome the Celtic support and generated millions of goodwill hits as social media spread the stories far and wide.
Inside the stadium the facilities were first class with the ticketed Celtic fans getting the reward that their support deserved when Moussa Dembele netted from the penalty spot.
