Aberdeen highlight UEFA Financial Fair Play in record turnover

|

Aberdeen have highlighted their compliance with UEFA Financial Fair Play after announcing record turnover for the year to 30 June 2016.

The Dons look to be locked in a battle with Sevco, St Johnstone and Hearts for two Europa League places with Celtic pulling clear at the top of the table.

Having posted going concern warnings in their accounts for the last two years it seems that spending outwith their means is the policy at Sevco.

Aberdeen, Hearts and St Johnstone have all reached UEFA licensing requirements in recent seasons while a group of Celtic shareholders question why Rangers (IL) were granted a licence for the 2011/12 season despite having an overdue bill to HMRC of £2.8m.

The Dons suffered more than most from the tax cheating years at Ibrox with chief executive Duncan Fraser keen to highlight how the club is run compliantly.

Speaking to the Aberdeen website he said: “The financial performance discussed above delivered a trading surplus for the third successive year, with an operating profit of £448,000 (2015 – £542,000). This is a noteworthy statistic which will help us to deliver a balanced budget over the medium-term and puts the Club in a strong position when subjected to monitoring under UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations”.

The Dons will hold their AGM on Monday November 28, the day after the Betfred Cup Final with Celtic at Hampden.
