Moussa Dembele won’t be afraid to take a penalty against Barcelona.

The hoops striker missed from 12 yards out in the Nou Camp as Barcelona inflicted a 7-0 defeat on Celtic but bounced back to score from the spot away to Borussia Monchengladbach.

Leigh Griffiths and Scott Sinclair have taken penalties this season but if the bhoys strike it lucky tonight Dembele will happily step up to do his duty.

I didn’t have any pain missing against Barcelona,” he told the Celtic website. “As I’ve said before, a penalty is a lottery. Sometimes you miss, sometimes you score. Even Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo do it. Ronaldinho did it too so it’ll happen to me for sure.

I’ll try to not do it again but it’s probably not the last one. Even the best miss and I’m not the best yet.

I’m feeling good, even if last time didn’t go well for us, I still feel confident that we can get a result at home against what I would say is the best team in the world. We have nothing to lose so we have to go and be proud of ourselves and give everything.”

Dembele will be closely watched across Europe tonight as more and more clubs take note of his rapid development.

With three goals from four Champions League appearances and a double for the French u21 side against England he has demonstrated that he can score at the highest level as well as domestically in Scotland.

Dembele is almost certain to play up front on his own with Brendan Rodgers wary of taking any risk on Leigh Griffiths hamstring with a cup final coming up on Sunday following by a heavy schedule of games through to the winter break.
