Davie Provan believes that Brendan Rodgers has one vital advantage over Ronny Deila- the Irishman is managing everything at Celtic.

During his first transfer window Deila never made a permanent signing until the final day of August when he brought in Stefan Scepovic from Sporting Gijon.

Deila had gone on record stating how he didn’t want to go into the loan market but ended up bulking up his squad with a job-lot of loanees.

Rodgers has taken a very different approach bringing in five players who are very much his men.

Scott Sinclair, Kolo Toure and Dorus de Vries had previously played under the Irishman at Swansea and Liverpool while Moussa Dembele was quickly identified and snapped up as soon as his Fulham contract ended.

Looking back on Celtic’s draw with Monchengladbach, writing in The Sun, Provan said: “Unlike Ronny Deila, who was a puppet for the Hoops board, Rodgers is calling his own shots and doing little wrong.

Hoops punters have to hope he’ll resist the lure of England’s Premier League long enough to see the job through.”

With more than £30m coming in from playing in the Champions League Rodgers is expected to be a big player during the January transfer window.
