There was no fanfare and barely a whimper as Kris Commons left Celtic for Hibs on a 28 day loan that is almost certain to be converted into a full time loan next month.

With 91 goals and five SPL/SPFL winners medals Commons is one of the most significant Celtic players in recent times as the club reclaimed top spot in Scottish football.

Commons leaves Celtic with tonnes of memories and more than a little controversy mainly sparked by an incident after being substituted in the 3-1 defeat away to Molde.

That incident split the support but few can argue about his contribution to the club, especially during the incredible 2013/14 season when he scored 31 goals as an attacking midfielder.

At the end of that season Neil Lennon left with Commons future in doubt under Ronny Deila, Commons survived under Deila but there was no way back for him when Brendan Rodgers replaced Deila.

Lennon has always been an admirer, now that he has Commons on board promotion will be expected- and a return trip next season to Celtic Park…
