Wise cracking media smoothy Joey Barton has found no reply to a classic tweet from Leigh Griffiths.

The discovery of some Celtic themed Russian dolls created amusement on twitter with the hoops striker unable to avoid another dig at Barton who managed to play in five SPFL games for the tribute act.

After the joy of agreeing a new contract with Burnley it seems that Barton may have to concentrate on his media career for a little longer.

The 34-year-old has been hit with an FA charge of placing 1,260 bets on football matches between 2006 and 2016.

Until 2014 English based players could bet on matches outwith the competitions that they were playing in.

With charges going back to 2006 the ‘former England internationalist’ is almost certainly facing charges of betting on games played in his own division and possibly involving his own club.

While the SFA prefer a softly softly approach to players breaking gambling restrictions Barton could effectively be put out of football for good if he was to get a ten match ban.

The ban will only become effective once he finds a new club meaning that any club looking to sign the 34-year-old will do so knowing that it could be two months before they get a look at their box office signing.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.
