Matt le Tissier has made a comment about Virgil van Dijk that will make every Celtic fan smile.

During his two seasons at Celtic it always seemed as if the Dutchman seemed a little bored, even dismissive of the opposition that the hoops were facing.

Despite now playing in the self proclaimed greatest league in the world it seems that nothing has changed about van Dijk’s approach to playing against Chelsea, Manchester City, Arsenal and the rest.

Speaking to Alan Brazil on Talksport this morning le Tissier said: “Sometimes it almost looks like the game is too easy for him.

He looks like a man playing in an under-14s game, that’s what it looks like at times. He’s just immense. He’s been fantastic for us.”

In 57 matches for Southampton van Dijk’s value has more than trebled since his £12m move from Celtic in August 2015.

In recent years St Mary’s has been viewed as a stepping stone to Liverpool with Jurgen Klopp apparently very interested in taking the Dutchman to Anfield.

Across the city Ronald Koeman has also been credited with an interest after working with van Dijk last season at Southampton.
