Celtic’s 2-1 win over Dundee at the weekend threw up some unusual statistics, particularly in regard to free kicks.

More than a few hoops fans got annoyed at the succession of free kicks given against Celtic while wholehearted and industrial challenges from the visitors went unpunished.

In almost every match the team that defends most concedes the most free-kicks.

Strangely that wasn’t the case on Saturday. CLICK HERE for match stats from SPFL website.

Celtic dominated every positive statistic relating to the match but incredibly had three times the as many free kicks awarded against them as Dundee.

Around goals Celtic had 20 shots, Dundee had 5.

The Celtic keeper had 1 save to make, the Dundee keeper had 5.

When it comes to free kicks however Celtic had 18 awarded against then, Dundee just 6.

So despite clearly having the bulk of possession, creating most chances and actually scoring more goals Celtic managed to commit three times as many fouls as Dundee.
