Sevco will fight tooth and nail to hold on to Mark Warburton IF an approach for the former city trader comes in from the FA for the vacant post as manager of the England u-21 squad.

Yesterday a report in The Times claimed that an application from Warbo would be welcomed with the 54-year-old having a proven track record of developing young talent although no examples were named.

Whether the FA have been watching the performances of James Tavernier, Martyn Waghorn and Clint Hill is unclear but in The Sun today the Ibrox side are determined to hold on to their man.

According to the newspaper: “A senior Ibrox source also confirmed that Rangers would fight tooth and nail to keep Warbs, who has turned things around following a slow start to the season.”

With no club in The Championship prepared to give Warbo a look in despite taking Brentford into the 2015 play-off’s the sudden interest in the former city trader seems unexpected.

With his family still living in London and the prospect of his salary being doubled to around £500,000/year Warbo is bound to be keen if the story is genuine.
