Brown’s secret

Scott Brown believes that being pain free has had a massive impact on his game.

The midfielder has been in outstanding form since the serious action kicked off and has barely let up since.

December’s punishing schedule didn’t disrupt his style with just a one match breather due to suspension preventing him from playing in every game.

Brown has been at the heart of everything that Celtic have achieved this season- on the park he’s led the way and off it he has the total trust of Brendan Rodgers.

It’s hard to recognise the Celtic skipper from the player that laboured through last season but it seems that there is one very simple explanation for that turnaround.

I am really enjoying my football, I don’t have any pain,” Brown told the Evening Times. “I am not playing with injuries or taking pain killers to get through games and I don’t think you can underestimate that.

It is well documented that last season I was playing with tendonitis which wasn’t ideal. But this season I have felt really fit and fresh from the start of pre-season training. I got a good summer under my belt which sets you up and to be honest, I haven’t looked back.”

Brown has played in 34 of Celtic’s 35 matches this season with his only goal coming in the 1-0 win away to Dundee.
