Eboue Kouassi has spoken out about his brush with malaria.

The 19-year-old had his Celtic debut delayed after being taken to hospital for malaria but has been released and given the all clear to resume training.

Switching from the Ivory Coast to Glasgow via Russia is a shock to the system but as he prepares to step up his Celtic career Kouassi is happy to put his malaria scare into the background.

Everything is fine just now, I’ve started to train again and I feel really good,” he told the Daily Record. “No problem, I was unafraid. I just felt quite tired. It’s okay.

Maybe it’s knocked me back a little, yes, a little bit. It has delayed things a little but I am not worried. I have started to train again, it’s going to take a bit of time. I’m happy and I am patient. There is no rush for games.”

Kouassi will be joined in Glasgow by his mum as he settles into a lifestyle totally different to anything that he has experienced before.

Fellow Ivorian Kolo Toure will play a leading role on and off the park helping the new bhoy settle into life as a Celtic player.

No date has been set for the midfielder to make his Celtic debut with the 19-year-old playing his last game for Krasnodar on December 8 against Nice in the Europa League.

Kouassi’s fitness will be assessed at Lennoxtown before a schedule is put in place to get him into Brendan Rodgers first team plans.
