Brendan Rodgers has praised the versatility of his squad after they hammered Hearts 4-0 to overtake the unbeaten record that the Lisbon Lions created in 1967.

Celtic have won 26 and drawn one of their first 27 domestic games of the season and look on course to wrap up the title in March.

Scott Sinclair scored twice today to emphasise his value to the side with Callum McGregor and Patrick Roberts the other scorers.

Going into the match Rodgers had to go without injured strikers Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths, during the warm up Stewart Armstrong suffered a knock that saw him miss out promoting McGregor into the starting XI.

With Tom Rogic out for over a month Celtic were without four of their top attacking weapons but Rodgers was thrilled with the way that his side improvised to chalk up another win.

It shows how well the players work together, the different ideas which they can take on board,” the hoops boss explained to Sporting Life.

“We tried to play Scott (Sinclair) through the middle, then we switched him into his natural position and Patrick came in and played as a central striker and I thought he was outstanding in that role.

“It was an outstanding team performance but above all of that, our ability to press the game was outstanding.”

Sixteen-year-old striker Jack Aitchson got an eight minute run- long enough to create the penalty for Sinclair’s second goal.
