Mark Warburton looks certain to miss out on taking West Ham defender Reece Oxford to Ibrox.

According to a report in the Daily Mail Nottingham Forest are poised to make a bid to take the 18-year-old on loan to the City Ground.

Last week a gasp of excitement was released with ‘news’ that Sevco were interested in the defender dubbed as the new Rio Ferdinand.

Once the hysteria had died down word got out that West Ham would only consider an offer if Mark Warburton was able to shift on one of his four central defenders.

With not a hint of interest in Clint Hill, Philippe Senderos, Danny Wilson or Rob Kiernan hopes of seeing Oxford at Ibrox have come to a halt.

News of that deal falling through comes on top of claims that Port Vale have demanded that the £250,000 fee for Jak Alnwick is paid up front in one instalment.

That demand looks certain to end Alnwick’s chances of moving to Ibrox forcing Warbo to pull the plug on Matt Gilks transfer to Wigan.
