Windass bid quickly blown apart

The latest Ibrox transfer fantasy has quickly been shot down.

Late this afternoon BBC Radio Scotland were among those passing out the message that Sevco had turned down a £1.5m bid for Josh Windass from Hull City.

It seems that very few questions have been asked of the source of that story in the haste to get the news out to as big an audience as possible.

Crucially the story was released after Mark Warburton’s media conference to preview Saturday’s match at Motherwell ensuring that the Ibrox boss didn’t have to comment on the matter.

With Hull playing in a cup semi-final against Manchester United tonight there’s little prospect of the story being followed up at that end.

After starting nine SPFL matches, and rarely surviving the full 90 minutes, it seems that the former Accrington ace is ready to play in the Premier League!

As transfer stories go it seemed far fetched with the general verdict being that Windass might become a standard SPFL player if he can find the fitness to last 90 minutes.

With no money being spent at Ibrox and no bids coming in for any players it’s likely that there will be a number of similar feel good stories surfacing before the transfer window closes.
