Joey Barton’s career sunk to depths not seen since his Sevco days when he tried to get a Lincoln player sent off with a bout playacting in the FA Cup defeat for Burnley.
As he chases a media career on various fronts perhaps the ‘straight up guy’ can explain his antics today as he tries to get a response from Matt Rhead of the National League side then rolls about the ground without any physical contact or even eye contact.
When you’re finished as a footballer, so you try to get a Non League player sent off…

As his decision to join Sevco in the summer confirmed Barton is a wrong ‘un which no amount of spin can cover up. Today justice was done with Lincoln winning 1-0 at Turf Moor.
Wasn’t trying to get the Big Man sent off. It was my job to front screen and disrupt him. Was trying to get back in front of him. (1)

Tried to duck under his arm and he moved it back and hit me on the head. Contact is part of the game, no problem with that. (2)

While at Newcastle he spent 67 days in Strangeways Prison for an assault with a string of unpleasant incidents already on his CV including stubbing out a cigar in a team-mates eye.
As a Sevco player the gobby Scouser came up with a string of insults for Brendan Rodgers and Scott Brown, in his final game for the club he lost 5-1 to Celtic.
Barton will soon appear before the FA to a charge of betting on matches in his own division over a ten year period.
