Mark Warburton has found new stats to ease away the disappointment of failing to beat Ross County in three attempts.

Last Saturday’s 1-1 draw sparked a mass of anger against Warbo with star defender Rob Kiernan being abused by wealthy fans as he made his way to the player’s lounge.

After the draw Warbo was quick to point out that his side had won 15 corners to the one corner for the visitors.

Craig Brown was one of the first managers to highlight stats to deflect away from poor performances.

Six days after the match the former city trader told the club’s TV channel: “The stats again tell you that our midfield alone ran 12km each; they are high numbers between Holty, Jon Toral and Emerson so the work ethic is there.

The full-backs work ethic is there, they both ran about 11km so the numbers are there so there is no lack of desire or work ethic.”

Those stats will be just as useless on Sunday if Warbo manages to send out a side that loses to Morton at home in the Scottish Cup.

As well as being denied any money for transfer fees during the January transfer window Warbo also saw his requests to get Kenny Miller and Clint Hill onto new contracts turned down by the board of directors.

Yesterday it emerged that star spotter Frank McParland looks like leaving the club, further diminishing the club’s worldwide scouting network.
