Mark Warburton has delivered a staunch defence of star spotter Frank McParland.

Over the last 24 hours rumours have been rife that McParland was on his way out of Ibrox either to a better job or as a consequence of his disastrous signing record.

Despite having the best contact book in the business Macca’s first transfer window provided Micky O’Halloran and Harry Forrester to the magic hat.

With a place in the top flight secured and the #goingfor55 campaign to live up to much was expected of the 2016 transfer window.

Despite offering the second best wages in the country out of 11 summer signings only Clint Hill has fitted into the side and that’s mainly down to the dismal form of Danny Wilson and Pip Senderos.

Attention has turned to the role of McParland over the summer signings but Warbo won’t hear a word said against his pint sized friend.

I’ve said time and again – his track record is outstanding,” the Sevco chief stated in the Evening Times.

“The latest one is Scott Hogan going to Villa (from Brentford), another gem, one of many that Frank McParland has signed.

“There would be no shortage of takers for someone of his quality “We are lucky to have him. He is one of the very best at what he does.

“He is head of our recruitment. It was a mischievous story and where it emanated from I have no idea.

“He is travelling again to look at players next week, he is as busy as ever.”

Despite his constant reference to Brentford Warbo has still to sell a single player after three transfer windows at Ibrox.
