Rather than taking Sevco training today, Pedro Caixinha will be in charge of Al-Gharafa’s reserve side!

With the Ibrox company unable to come up with a compensation package for the fifth best coach in Qatar it seems certain that they will miss out on their first choice candidate.

Al-Gharafa are believed to be unhappy about the undignified way in which their coach has gone about leaving the club and the haphazard approach to paying compensation from Ibrox.

All the while Graeme Murty is left in charge of the players on a day to day basis.

Breaking the bad new to their readers the Daily Record explains: “It’s understood the delay centres around the size of the compensation package which would be due to the Qatari club and also to Caixinha who is prepared to rip up the remainder of his £2million-a-year contract in order to get to Glasgow as quickly as possible.”

Caixinha has been expected in Glasgow since last Friday but won’t be able to leave Qatar until tomorrow at the earliest.

With the ‘deal’ surrounded by snags it can only be a matter of time before Caixinha decides to walk away from the Ibrox ‘offer’.

Having failed to convince Ross Wilson to quit Southampton to become Director of Football the Sevco management team now face the difficult task of updating Dave King about their search for a new manager.

Fortunately for the Ibrox club Alex McLeish and Alex Rae are still available at minimal notice.
