It was without doubt the night that Celtic regained control of the SPL.

At the start of November the hoops trailed Rangers by 15 points, they had just recently salvaged a point at Kilmarnock after being 3-0 down at half time.

During November Neil Lennon was able to dig something extra from his side despite the distraction of a Europa League campaign.

Ally McCoist’s side had no such playing worries but their double exit from UEFA competitions was soon to play a huge factor in their future.

On Christmas Eve a double from Georgios Samaras earned a 2-1 win over Kilmarnock while Rangers surprisingly lost 2-1 at St Mirren.

The gap at the top had been cut down to two points with all the expectations on the hoops to win the match and go into the new year in top spot.

It was a horrible day with high winds putting the game in doubt, despite those circumstances the hoops came out on top and haven’t looked back since.

Joe Ledley scored the goal that mattered but they were all heroes in the Celtic side as a new era opened up.
